Hiking at Holy Jim's

With the weather being as nice as its been, we decided it was time to get out of the house for the afternoon. Jake and Sarah suggested that we go hiking, so we thought about the different places we could go and my sister reminded me of a place that we use to go when we were kids called Holy Jim's Trails. We always had so much fun as kids it was a great hike with a stream with lots of water and ponds that we use to swim in. And near the top where we always end there was a waterfall where we would swim and eat lunch. So we decided that our first hike we decided it would be nice to go somewhere we had been so we knew what to expect a little. The road to the trail head is half the adventure! It is bouncy, bumpy, rocky, and josley, it was a little off road adventure. It would be really fun to do in a lifted truck! Once we reached the parking lot we loaded our backpacks up, and the baby and started out!

The trail was almost 3 miles round trip and the scenery was really wonderful. We could hear the sound of rushing water through most of it, which made it peaceful. The trail was very well maintained and there was lots of creek crossings which made for some adventure, trying not to get our feet wet!!

Once we reached falls the boys adventured up a little bit higher while Sarah, Grace and I hung out near the water.
It was very soothing to listen to the water crashing off the rocks. We put Gracie's feet in the cold water and she didn't seem to be bothered by how cold the water was.
We hung out for a little bit had some snacks, took some pictures and then headed back down the trail towards the car.

It took us about two hours to complete the whole trail, and I had a FABULOUS time! We were outside, exercising, and visiting and the baby did wonderful!!!
When she got a little fussy we just passed her off to the next person for a change of scenery and she was so happy. I know that she is too young to remember days like today, but hopefully the pictures will be enough for her to enjoy. I'm sure that we will go back again, maybe after the rain when there is even more water to venture through.
The car ride home was cool and relaxing and we picked up carne asada for dinner and bar-b-qued when we got home. It was such a great day. It was something new and different and I can't wait until our next hiking adventure!! Thank you Jake & Sarah for spending the day with us!!
